Twins Journal Designs began with our family—two dads, twin girls, and a journey to becoming a family that included IVF and surrogacy.

Our story may not look like everyone else's, but that's exactly the point.

My Family Is Built Different was inspired by the belief that there isn't one right way to make a family. Families are created through different journeys, different people and different kinds of love.

The puzzle-piece heart represents those different pieces coming together to create something whole. Each piece may be different, but together they belong.

This design started with our story, but it isn't only about us. It's for adoptive families, blended families, LGBTQ+ families, single-parent families, chosen families, grandparents raising grandchildren—and anyone else whose family was built in its own unique way.

My Family Is Built Different was created for kids who are proud of the people they call family. Families can come together through birth, adoption, surrogacy, blended families, two moms, two dads, one parent, grandparents, chosen family, and countless other paths.

Size guide

Follow these care tips and your Twins Journal Designs tees will stay soft, bold, and ready for every family moment—wash after wash:

• Wash & dry inside out. Simple step, big protection for the print.
• Use cold water + gentle detergent. Keep it low and mild—your shirt likes it that way.
• Avoid bleach and harsh stain fighters. They can fade colors and weaken the design.
• Skip heavy-duty cycles and extra spinning. Less stress = longer-lasting fabric.
• Air dry when you can. If you tumble dry, use low heat and don’t pack it in with heavy items like towels or blankets.
• Iron inside out on low heat. Never iron directly on the design—prints and hot plates don’t mix.

Shipping

• Orders are typically shipped within 7 days of placing the order
• Once shipped, allow 2-5 days for orders to be delivered

Returns & Refunds

Our goal at Twins Journal Designs is that you love your order. Because many of our items are made-to-order, returns are limited—but we stand behind what we sell and want you to feel confident shopping with us.

• Incorrect, damaged, or defective items are eligible for a full refund or free replacement.
• No refunds will be issued after 30 days from the purchase date.

Eligibility for a Refund

To qualify, your request must meet all of the following:

• Item arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect
• Reported within 30 days of purchase
• Item must be unused and in the same condition you received it (when a return is required)

• Your order number
• A brief description of the issue
• Photos showing the problem (damage/defect/incorrect item)
  

We’ll review your request and respond with next steps as quickly as possible.

Non-Returnable Items (Made-to-Order)

Because our apparel is printed specifically for each order, we typically cannot accept returns or exchanges for:

• Wrong size ordered
• Change of mind
• Normal wear/tear
